Fabulous large-scale mid-century modern West German pottery statement vase dating from the 1960s. Embracing the highly collectible Fat Lava era aesthetic, this piece features deeply graphic sgraffito (Ritzdekor) technique. The bold vertical off-white stripes have been individually hand done through a rich matte chocolate-brown slip glaze, revealing the natural pale clay body beneath. Attributed to the iconic mid-century designs of manufacturers like Schlossberg Keramik, this block-shaped ovoid vessel is the ultimate minimalist accent. Its timeless and pairs perfectly with contemporary, Scandinavian modern, retro-bohemian, or Bauhaus-inspired interiors. The base features a clean, simple hand-incised letter "W" under the pontil, serving as the classic mid-century country-of-origin identifier for authentic West Germany production. Lovely grouped with other mid century objects and ceramics, or stands alone.
