Original ink painting by renowned Australian artist Bronwyn Alice Rees. I have curated her exhibitions in the past. Over 20 years of dedicated studio practice and an international exhibition pedigree in printmaking, this organic minimalist piece marks an intimate, direct-to-paper exploration of East Asian philosophy. Hand-painted using rich traditional ink and a weathered, antique goat-hair brush from her granny, the artwork is inspired by a recent long trip to Japan, rooted in Wabi-Sabi— The piece has natural imperfections, which I love, handmade Awagami paper from Japan. The delicate, organic sheet has been deliberately and intricately crinkled when made by hand by Japanese paper makers, allowing the black ink to pool, fracture, and bleed into the natural fibers. Rejecting the rigid constraints of a standard grid, the artwork is delicate, biomorphic with entirely uneven, raw edges. It would be lovely hung - perfect for any Japandi natural nature Home full of wood, layered, eclectic design spaces focused on tactile global art, equally nice in any vintage home, mid century modern, Scandinavian, even Old world. Comes framed in a simple black frame and its vintage 1990s.

Condition: Excellent, however it comes jaggered as intended and raw as intended. The frame has a string only on the back - its vintage.
